AVCon hosts panels, presentations and workshops on a range of topics. Presenters range from enthusiastic fans, experienced, to academic and industry professionals.

Video Game Development Panels

We've all dreamt of a career in the video game industry, but where does one start? Well come along to our video game development panels!!
Guests from industry and university will cover a broad 'introduction panel' into the world of creating video games for all who are interested. Following that, three focus panels covering the 'coding', 'art' and 'business' side of the game industry will be held to help you fire up your talents, skills and your portfolio!

Travelling to Japan Panel

Japan is the birth place of most of the worlds anime, pocky, manga, sushi, video games, and large oversized lizards!
If you've ever considered going to Japan, then this panel (hosted by two experienced travellers) is a great place to start! You'll learn important travel tips such as where to stay, how to get around, where to get great food, where to get cheap anime, along with some of the cultural do's and don'ts. Bring your questions and start planning that trip to the otaku motherland!

Triple Threat Animation Panel

Interesting in Animation using digital media? ‘Danimations,’ ‘I Love Biscuits,’ and ‘Awesome Fighter Animation’ are three local studios who have collaborated to produce a work entitled ‘Triple Threat Animation.’ Representatives from all three studios will present a ‘how to panel’ featuring this work, and answering questions about Animation using digital media!

Cosplay Mystery Date

If you’re tired of looking for romance in all the wrong places, try escaping canon and come to our mystery match up. If you want a warrior, a magician, or just someone who is nearly normal, you can find love, and laughs, here. We’ll be having three rounds this year, and while anybody wanting to be a bachelor or bachelorette must pre-register, don’t feel left out just because you’re a little late – contestants will be drawn from the audience.

Mitchell promises to drag the heinous fiend Avi back to the stage yet again for you entertainment! Watch in awe as handful of poor starving artists are tortured for your entertainment! Come see what bizarre works are dreamed up from 3 random words, a diet of energy drinks, two crazy hosts and audience howling for moar yaoi!

Tenctacles & Mechs Gameshow

Tentacles & Mechs is a laugh-a-minute rollercoaster of bizarre anime trivia, challenging mutlimedia rounds and an opportunity to make a fool of yourself for points. 2 teams of 3 will compete against each other over 5 rounds of mayhem, but beware, the audience has won before and will be right on your heals if you can't answer correctly. from your favourite film, game or TV series. Learn tips from ACG members on how they created their costume and how you can apply them to create your own.

What is an ABJD? Why do fans spend hundreds of $$$ on them? Why are so many people getting into this hobby? We'll cover that and all the need to know basics including the complete stripping, pulling apart and rebuilding of a doll during the panel! For those who are already proud doll owners or currently saving up we'll go into a bit more depth basics customisation with special help from guest speaker ‘onegreyelephant.’ Come to look at the pretty, stay to talk to all the other owners and really discover what this unique hobby is all about.
