AVCon 2010 Tekken 6 Tournament

Image

Don't you have any special moves or something?

Day & Time - Saturday 11:00am to 3:00pm
Rating - M15+
Platform - PS3
Format - Double Elimination
Team or Player Cap - 64 Players
Gametypes - Versus

Rules updates - last updated on 03/07/2010
* These rules are correct at the time of posting.
* Please check back leading up to the event for any possible revisions to these rules.

Player/Audience behaviour
- Players and spectators are expected to abide by the AVCon Code of Conduct at all times.
- Players and spectators must exercise sportsmanship and a high standard of personal conduct at all times before, during and after the tournament.
- Swearing, trash-talking and any other conduct considered abusive in any form may result in forfeit, disqualification or dismissal from the venue by the tournament Referee or Supervisors.
- Players and spectators may approach the tournament Referee with any grievance. The Referee’s decision regarding that grievance is final.

Controls
- Standard PS3 controllers will be provided for all consoles.
- Some arcade sticks will also be provided but may be limited due to availability. If players wish to play using an arcade stick controller they are advised to bring their own wired controller as all wireless controllers will be ruled ineligible (this is due to interference, battery failure and console density). Players are responsible for ensuring that all regulations that apply to their controller are followed.
- Players will be allowed to change controller configuration if and only if they request it, and only at the beginning of round one of the match.
- Since default configurations (Controller A/B/C, Arcade A/B/C) are not included with this game, players will be allowed to configure their controls. However, players are advised to familiarise themselves with the default configuration and make the required adjustments to their techniques where applicable prior to the tournaments. In the situation where a player requires a change in controls, the player will have a maximum of 30 seconds to make required changes.
- Macros are allowed, however players will be given a maximum of 30 seconds to make required changes.
- The tournament Referee reserves the right to ban personal equipment for any reason.
- AVCon takes no responsibility for personal gear damaged, stolen or lost at the convention.

Game Specific Rules
- Game Count: Best of 1 games
- Round Count: Best of 5 rounds
- Battle Time: 99 seconds
- Damage: Default
- Handicap: Default

Side, Character & Stage Selection
- Players are free to choose either side of the screen on agreement with their opponent. If an agreement cannot be reached the tournament Supervisor will toss a coin with the winner to choose their side.
- Players will choose their characters, double blind selection will be used if and only if requested by either player before character selection is undertaken, in which both players will secretly inform the tournament Supervisor of their character choice and the Supervisor will declare the characters used. Players will then proceed to choose that character (enforced by the Supervisor) and any costume choices. Failure to pick their nominated character will result in forfeiting the match.
- Custom characters/Custom costumes are banned
- Stage selection will be random.

Additional information
- Players will be able to choose which of 4 16-player pools they wish to be a part of (subject to availability), this allows a degree of self-seeding for both local and interstate players. There will be random seeding within the pools.
- Finals will use the continuation method, so losses in the preliminary rounds will carry through into the finals.
- There will be no allowances made for double jeopardy situations.
- Players will be given 2 minutes from the match start time to arrive at their console before forfeiting the match.
- A reserve pool will be supplied if registration numbers are greater than the allowed 64 competitors, reserve players are expected to be in the designated reserve area and may be allocated any empty position in the loser’s bracket by the tournament Referee or a Supervisor once the scheduled player has forfeited.

Other rules
- Failure to comply with any of the rules or follow direction of a tournament Referee or Supervisor may result in forfeit, disqualification or dismissal from the venue.
- Failure to arrive to a match within the allowed time will forfeit the match.
- Pausing (except in conditions other specified) will forfeit the match.
- Soft-reset will forfeit the match.
- If a problem occurs which is not the fault of either player (hardware failure, disconnected controller, etc), a rematch using the same characters will be held immediately.
- The tournament Referee and Supervisors reserve the right to disqualify a player or group from the tournament before, during and after the tournament for any reason.
- Any player who feels they have an issue may refer to a tournament Supervisor, who will make a ruling. If a player directly affected by the decision disagrees with the ruling they may appeal to the tournament Referee.
- The tournament Referee’s decision on all matters specified in these rules and otherwise is final.

If there are any queries in regards to this tournament or any other aspect of the convention please don't hesitate to contact the videogames committee on videogames@avcon.org.au

Woot, Double Elim and best of 5 rounds for Tekken and Blazblue. Also woot for Double Elim and best of three matches for SSFIV. Couldn't be stuffed posting three times in three different threads.

That would be BlazBlue, not Tekken.

Personally i think 99 seconds is way too long for a tekken round. Possible to change it to 60s? It's normally 60 in tournaments, in arcades and also online ranked matches.

99 or 60 seconds in tekken.... does it really matter?

Don't most matches end in less than a minute anyway? lol

It's hard to run the clock out against any player who isn't turtling, even with only 60 seconds. I don't see why the round time should be changed.

And is AVCon only in Adelaide? And is it true there's another one going to be held next year in July?

Winners got prize vouchers and a pretty stylish trophy.

AVCon is only in Adelaide.

Yes, there is an AVCon next year in July.

Okay, would there be a Tekken 6 tournament next year? I missed out on this one. And I think I'll go good...

We will look into it, but we can't promise anything. We had 16 unfilled slots, which is what killed the bracketing. Maybe we should try Soul Calibur 4 again?

I would have entered but got there too late. I would also prefer Tekken and instead of Tatsunoku vs Capcom Soul Calibur 4

If I could do it over again TBH, I'd condense Tekken to 32 players, squeeze the SSB tournament from Sunday into Saturday and that would of given us the time to not run SSF4 til 9pm >_>
