This year AMVs take to a larger stage with two competitions.

AMV Live + AMV Workshop 

If you are an AMV fan or interested in learning more about AMV's then head over to the AMV Live competition where you can see several contestants battle to create their masterpieces within a time limit. There will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions to experienced AMV creators while you watch the competitors construct their AMV's on the big screen. There will also be mini games and audience prizes, so don't miss it!!

AMV Compeition

This years entrants for the AMV Compeition will be played and we give you a chance to influence the winners via a fan vote! (Winners for the main AMV comp will be played again and announced at the closing ceremony)

Videos will be judged within the following categories
 - Action / Upbeat
 - Drama / Romanca
 - Comedy / Trailer
 - Judges Choice
 - Fan Choice

Two teams battle it out in a war of wit, humour, intelligence and creativity. Points are awarded to each team, but be careful because the player who accumulates the least points may be eliminated and replaced.

Watch for "Celebrity" figures infiltrating the show!! Play for the team, and play for yourself because there is only one major prize!! If you would like to take part you will have to attend the show as contestants are plucked from the audience.

Watch as two teams battle it out on our lifesize chess board, where the pieces are our colourful cosplayers. Register to be part of the fun to guarantee your place in the position of your choice (some places may become available during setup), or if you fancy yourself a chess player or at least know the basic rules why not try your hand at commanding the show.

What would AVCon be without its cosplay competition? Cosplay is a big part of any anime or video game convention. It involves a combination of costume, roleplay and a good deal of courage.

As with most cosplay competitions, due to its enormous popularity you will have to pre-register if you wish to enter in order to secure a place. We cannot guarantee there will be a chance for late entries over the AVCon weekend due to time constraints.

With these Japanese based fashions taking off in Australia, AVCon is running a competition to celebrate these styles.

After the success of the competition last year we are formalising this into a full blown event on the main stage. Prizes this year will be awarded for the judges choice of best Lolita Fashion, Decora and Visual Kei.  Please note that styles such as Steam Punk and Visual Kei & J-rock cosplays (for example Kyo, Shinya, Gackt, Mana, Kana, Aya) are not part of this competition.
