We love supporting our talented local artists, and what better way than to put their art on display and reward the best with fabulous prizes.
The art competitions will return again this year. We will open submissions shortly and let you know what the categories will be. |
1. All submitted pieces MUST be the work of the entrant and the entrant only! Traced or copied works will not be accepted.
2. Art displaying violence, explicit sexual behaviour or offensive material will not be accepted.
3. We do not have the facilities to display framed artwork due to the risk of glass breakage and damage to the art itself, therefore as an alternative entrants will be able to have their artwork laminated for display if they choose for a small fee at the AVCon merchandise stall.
4. All artwork must be submitted during the Saturday of the Convention and we recommend that you bring your entries to the Art area as soon as you arrive so they may be up for viewing ASAP.
5. Entrants to the Art Comp are only allowed to enter once per category. The categories are Traditional Art (ie pencils, paints, etc), Digital Art (computer generated) and Ayvee/Switch Fanart (any style of art accepted)
6. Art should be a minimum of A4 and a maximum of A2.
7. Please clearly label your art with your name, email and contact number on the back of your work. This may be a separate, attached piece of paper if desired. All work must be labeled to facilitate return and prize redemption.
8. Art will be available to be collected at the close of the convention. Uncollected art will be held for no longer than two weeks and will be available for collection by negotiation. Any art not collected after this time will become sole property of AVCon and may be destroyed.
9. Prizes will be awarded at the AVCon Closing ceremony.

1. All submitted entries should be the work of the entrant and the entrant only.
2. Entries should be made entirely of food. Use of additional containers and accessories (such as food picks) is allowed, but should not form a major part of your entry.
3. Entrants should display their entry in a lunch box suitable for one person. The ideal size is 400-600ml. To work out the size of your box, fill it completely with water, then use a measuring cup to determine how much water the container holds. The box does not have to be a Japanese bento box. It may be Tupperware, Lock & Lock, etc.
4. Entries can be simple or complex. There is no theme for this competition.
5. Submission for this competition will be in the format of a photograph so that we may display it all weekend. We would prefer your photo to be 5"x7" in landscape orientation (ie. a little larger than a standard photo size). On the back of your photo please clearly mark your name, contact number and email address along with a description of the foods used. We prefer this to be typed and attached as you may lose points if we cannot read your entry.
6. Entries will be judged for the following categories with a total mark deciding the overall winners. This will allow for an even playing field amongst competition.
Presentation; Appearance; Creativity; Food Choices (ie is it healthy?); and Overall Appearance 7. All entries must be submitted during the Saturday of the Convention and we recommend that you bring your entries to the Art area as soon as you arrive so they may be up for viewing ASAP.
8. Prizes will be awarded at the AVCon Closing Ceremony. Any questions should be directed to
