Cast your vote for your favourite from a selection of highly rated anime at the Flinders University Anime Club booth in the Community Quarter. Add your sticker to the poster, check how the favourites are tracking across the weekend, and see which anime comes out on top when the votes are tallied at the end of Sunday.

Got an anime or manga opinion that would get you side-eyed in the group chat? Visit the Flinders University Anime Club booth in the Community Quarter and add your most unpopular anime or manga opinion to the Hot Takes Board. Come back later to see which takes are brave, cursed, or you secretly agree with.

Meet guest Allegra Clark at the AVCon Guests booth for meet and greets, signatures and photos while she is not taking part in stage programming or scheduled breaks.

These are not your normal games of Smash. Over here, we are SUPER SERIOUS about Smash Bros, maybe even more than the tournaments. Our rulesets are super specific, and players must follow the rules for each match. No items, Fox only, Final Destination? Or perhaps you would rather Pokémon only, Poké Balls only on Pokémon Stadium 2? No matter what you are looking for, we welcome your serious outlook and hope you can really show that you mean SERIOUS BUSINESS. Up to 4 people will play at once, with each match timed to 2 minutes. Custom Smash will be used for several rulesets, and audience members can suggest their own super serious rulesets to the host.

Ultimate Gamer returns to AVCon! First run at AVCon in 2003, Ultimate Gamer is one of the great Video Games traditions. It is the ultimate test of whether you are actually good at games, or just very good at one game and hoping nobody notices.

Across the qualifier round, players will face a variety of games and genres. You will need to adapt, learn quickly and survive whatever the Video Games team puts in front of you. The best qualifiers will advance to the finals on the Video Games Stage, where they will battle for the crown and the title of AVCon’s Ultimate Gamer.

Will a famed pegasus rise again? Will a new challenger clip their wings? Come qualify, come watch, or come witness the beautiful stress of people learning new games in real time.

Gather your pod and join Elder Dragon Summit, AVCon’s dedicated Magic: The Gathering Commander experience, presented by Team AVCon and Good Games Adelaide. Players can join casual Commander games, take part in Magic activities, learn how to play, meet other players, and earn prize tickets for the Good Games Prize Wall. New players are welcome, and experienced players can bring their own Commander deck to jump into games across the day. After four years of streaming and a lifetime of drinking Pepsi, MANHANDS is finally taking the next step towards becoming Pepsi Man. Watch as Matt receives a life-size, full-colour Pepsi can tattoo live on stage while a rotating cast of creators, friends and special guests keep the conversation rolling. Raising money for Game On Cancer, this two-hour live event combines a charity fundraiser, audience interaction, and one extremely permanent decision.

Musical Showcase Saturday opens the Main Stage with some of the best anime and video game music talent from across Australia, featuring bands, singers, and songwriters ready to get the crowd moving. With Curoblak, kimmyt, Sunset Morioh, Morning Tea Time, and headline act Just Cosplay Sings (JC), this showcase brings together J-rock, J-pop, game-inspired music, acoustic vocals, and fan-favourite songs.

This is an open-to-all community meet up to exchange little trinket goodies to celebrate fandoms, adorable collectables, and meet new friends.

Tradable goodies from previous events have been badge ribbons (really taking off since our first run at pax 2025) magnets, keychains, cosplay photo cards & original character illustrations, badges and bracelets! Home made & self made kitsch items are encouraged but upcycled and small clear outs of collections are also welcome.

We can expect to take photos and videos of our meet up, decorate our badges and bags with fun ornaments and of course create a safe space for people to express their fandom with likeminded people.

While it is open to all the spirit if the event is the exchange of one little goodie for another. People should not attend with the expectation of getting free stuff.

A homage to AVCons of old - the Band stage, Rock Band 3 returns to the Video Games Stage for one glorious hour of plastic instruments, big vocals, and extremely serious pretend musicianship.

This freeplay session uses the Wii version of Rock Band 3, loaded with over 2,500 DLC songs. Grab the mic, guitar, bass or drums, jump in with friends, fill an empty spot in the band, or cheer from the crowd while other attendees take their shot at stage glory.

Sadly, we cannot promise the return of the giant cardboard guitar from AVCon 2007. However, we can promise real fake instruments, questionable vocal confidence, and at least one person choosing a song far beyond their skill level.

Step into the Hollow Night and test your fighting game fundamentals in UNDER NIGHT IN-BIRTH II Sys:Celes at AVCon 2026.

Players will battle through a 1v1 double elimination bracket on PlayStation 4, with Best of 3 sets leading into Best of 5 for Winners Finals, Losers Finals and Grand Finals. Choose your character carefully, adapt between sets, and fight your way through the bracket for an AVCon 2026 themed trophy or runner-up medal. BYO controllers are allowed, provided they are PlayStation 4 compatible and do not use turbo, macros or modified inputs.

Think your amiibo has what it takes to fight for glory? Bring your trained Lv. 50 amiibo and watch your pupil battle it out in a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate amiibo-only tournament.

Players will not control the fighters directly, so the real test is how well you have trained your amiibo before AVCon. This single elimination tournament uses 1v1 amiibo battles, with standard matches played Best of 1 before longer semi-finals and finals. Players must bring one or two trained amiibo, check in with the Tournament Organiser at least 15 minutes before play begins, and have a valid AVCon 2026 badge for the tournament day.

Bring your battle team, ready your device, and prove you have what it takes to become AVCon’s Pokémon Champion.

This Pokémon Champions Doubles tournament is a bring-your-own-device event using Best of 3 Swiss rounds, with the top players advancing toward playoffs and the final. Players must bring a compatible Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch or phone, their own game access, and a tournament-ready team.

Welcome to random play dance! This is for all anime or idol fans willing to dance with music! This year only Japanese music and anime music will be involved. Jump on stage and start dancing if you recognise the music and choreography. We will take some casual photos for potential promotions for future events.

This meetup is for any and all fans of Umamusume: Pretty Derby, both anime and game related. Anyone is welcome, including but not limited to: casual fans, cosplayers, collectors, fan artists, you name it. Cosplay is encouraged, but not enforced, and you will not be banned from the meetup if you're not in cosplay. Fake, short races may be held, as well as photography sessions if people would like, or if people want to take photos, as well as casual photography with phones also being allowed at any time. First place will receive an AVCon 2026 themed trophy and $200, with $100 for runner-up and $50 for third place.

This panel is for cosplayers and photographers who want to get more confident with the full shoot process, from planning and reaching out to a photographer or model, through to posing, shooting, editing, and posting the final photos.

The session will focus on practical tips for improving your posing as a model, as well as what photographers should look out for on the other side of the camera. Whether you are new to cosplay shoots or ready to sharpen your skills, come along for advice, examples, and ways to make your next shoot feel smoother, stronger, and more fun.

Running at the Mini4WD table, the Box Class Race gives attendees and Mini4WD racers the chance to put their cars to the test on Mini4WD SA’s longest AVCon track yet, with fast runs, tight tuning, and plenty of tiny-car chaos.

Join renowned Games Master and voice actor, Robert Hartley GM, as he takes you through techniques, tips and tricks to develop a mastery of accents and voice work for TTRPGs.

Robert will lead the discussion from simple ways to warm up, through the many ways to create a unique voice that don’t require you to be good with accents, and into more advanced techniques for vocal preservation and remembering and recreating the voices you come up with, for consistency.

During the seminar, attendees may, to their comfort level, simply watch and listen, or take a more active role, with Robert guiding interaction and putting the skills into practice. For one hour only, AVCon President Big Poppa Mowen and Vice President Sticki Vicki are taking over the Video Games Stage for their most ill-advised event yet: Super Sexy Casual Tournament Time! A deeply unserious After Dark showdown of questionable taste, questionable skill, and extremely questionable decision-making.

Unfortunately, they had completely different ideas about what should happen on stage. The big man has chosen to run Bikini Karate Babes, an early 2000s 2D tournament fighter with digitised photographic sprites a la Mortal Kombat, if all the classic MK fighters were babes in bikinis and, instead of fatalities, they shook everything everywhere. Meanwhile, the stickiest VP has selected her fighting game of choice: Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball. A game where you take legitimate martial artists, put them in as little clothing as possible, and make them participate in a sport that is approximately 75% bouncing.

Standard PlayStation 4 controllers will be provided, though BYO unmodified controllers are allowed. End of Ember: Hot Seat is an After Dark audience-interactive stage session featuring End of Ember, a gory South Australian indie twin-stick roguelite shooter by Bad Plan Studios. Audience members will take turns in the hot seat, descending into gross chambers of Hell, carving through demons with Ember’s chainsaw-gun, and trying to survive bosses, cursed upgrades, bad choices, and piles of gore.

Meet guest SungWon Cho in a special face-to-face meet and greet session at AVCon 2026. This is a limited-capacity session, so attendees will need a free meet and greet token to take part. SungWon Cho will be participating in two (2) meet and greet sessions over AVCon 2026.

The last racers standing hit the Video Games Stage for the Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Finals, where the speed jumps to SuperSonic and the pressure becomes everyone else’s problem. This is the final burst of AVCon 2026 video game chaos, with the trophy, runner-up medal, end-of-weekend bragging rights, and a cheeky little $100 for the winner because apparently going fast pays.

Close out the weekend with one last big AVCon moment!

The Closing Ceremony brings everyone together to celebrate the end of the festival, look back on the weekend, thank the community, and recognise the people who helped make AVCon happen. There will be special performances, awards, team shout-outs, and a few final surprises before the lights go down.
