Accessible Parking and Drop Off

AVCon uses Car Park 1 at Adelaide Showground, accessed from Rose Terrace, as the main car park for the festival. Parking, including accessible bays, is managed by Adelaide Showground.

Accessible parking bays are available within the venue car parks and are offered on a first come, first served basis. AVCon cannot reserve accessible parking spaces or guarantee availability on the day.

Current Adelaide Showground parking rates are:

• Under 30 minutes: Free
• Under 2 hours: $6.50
• All day: $15

If accessible parking is important for your visit, we recommend arriving early, allowing extra time, and checking the Adelaide Showground parking information before you travel.

If you are being dropped off, please allow enough time to move safely from the drop-off point to the entry area. AVCon can be busiest around opening times, so planning extra time can make arrival easier.

Accessible Toilets and Change Facilities

The Adelaide Showground has accessible and special needs toilets for attendees with disabilities, parents with young children, carers and people with additional needs.

These toilets are wheelchair friendly and are located across the Showground, including:

• Goyder Pavilion foyer
• Jubilee Pavilion foyer
• The Atrium
• Ridley Centre

Accessible and special needs toilets include fold-down baby change tables. Permanent changing tables are also available in the parenting rooms in the Northern Jubilee Pavilion and The Atrium.

These facilities are available for people who need them. This may include wheelchair users, people with mobility aids, people with invisible disabilities, parents and carers with young children, and attendees who need additional space, privacy or support.

Assistance Animals

Accredited assistance animals are welcome at AVCon 2026 in line with South Australian law and Adelaide Showground policies.

Pets and non-working animals are not permitted inside festival pavilions.

If you are attending with an accredited assistance dog, please make sure your dog is wearing appropriate identification and harness. Please also bring any public access documentation you normally carry, in case it is requested by venue staff.

AVCon can be loud, crowded and visually busy. There may be music, cheering, stage sound, arcade noise, large crowds, cosplay props, food smells and sudden movement around busy areas. If you are attending with an assistance animal, please consider how your dog may respond to the festival environment and plan breaks where needed.

Companion Cards

AVCon is part of the official Companion Card program in South Australia.

Companion Card holders can bring a companion or carer to AVCon at no additional cost. This supports fairer access for attendees who require support to participate in the event.

When purchasing AVCon 2026 tickets online, you can add a free Companion Card badge alongside your paid ticket. If you need a Companion Card ticket and did not add one at the time of purchase, please email ticketing@avcon.org.au and our team will assist.

On the day of the festival, please bring your Companion Card and show it at the ticketing booth along with your valid AVCon ticket.

A companion may assist with tasks such as communication, mobility, personal care, navigating the venue, managing sensory needs, queuing, or staying safe in a busy environment.

Concession Tickets

AVCon offers concession rates across all day and weekend tickets.

We do this to help make ticketing fairer and more accessible for attendees with different circumstances, including students, concession card holders and eligible community members.

On the day of the festival, please bring your concession card and show it at the ticketing booth along with your valid AVCon ticket. AVCon accepts all concession cards listed on the South Australian concession finder, including:

• Student IDs for full-time tertiary students, primary school, and secondary students
• Government concession cards like Pensioner Concession Card, Health Care Card, Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) Card, or Commonwealth Seniors Health Card.
• SA Seniors card

Kids, Families and Carers

Families, carers and younger attendees are welcome at AVCon.

Kids aged 12 and under can attend AVCon free with a valid accompanying ticket holder. Children should be supervised by a parent, guardian or carer while attending the event.

If you are attending with children, someone who needs support, or someone who may become overwhelmed by crowds or noise, we recommend planning your day before you arrive. Choose a few must-do activities, plan breaks, bring water and snacks, and agree on a meeting point in case your group separates.

Families may also find Sprite’s Kids Zone helpful. Sprite’s Kids Zone is an open family activity space on the AVCon show floor with free creative activities, games, crafts and kid-friendly fun included with your AVCon ticket.

Access Inn Sensory Space

Access Inn is AVCon’s sensory space inside the Video Games Hall.

It is a quieter, more relaxed area open to anyone who needs a calmer place to reset during the event. Access Inn is designed for neurodiverse attendees, people who feel overwhelmed by the show floor, parents or carers supporting someone, and anyone who needs a moment away from the noise and activity before heading back in.

No booking is required. Access Inn is open to all attendees throughout the weekend while the Video Games Hall is open.

We are incredibly excited to be partnering with Enhance Living Options, ELO, to bring Access Inn to life.

ELO is a registered disability support provider focused on empowering people to live independently, build life skills, participate in their communities, and access personalised support services tailored to their needs. Their commitment to dignity, inclusion and wellbeing makes them a strong partner for Access Inn.

Inside Access Inn

Access Inn includes:

• sensory and chill games
• fidgets
• headphones
• comfortable seating
• a calmer environment away from the main event

Access Inn is a shared calm space. Please keep noise low, be respectful of everyone using the area, and follow any directions from AVCon volunteers.

Access Inn is not a childcare area, medical room or private support room. Parents, guardians, carers and support people must remain responsible for the person they are supporting.

If Access Inn is at capacity, you may be asked to wait before entering so the space can remain calm and comfortable for those using it.

Sensory Considerations

AVCon can be busy, bright, loud and crowded, especially around stages, gaming areas, Artist Alley, entry points and peak times.

There may be:

• loud music or stage sound
• cheering or crowd noise
• arcade and gaming sounds
• flashing screens
• bright lighting
• dense foot traffic
• queues
• cosplay props and costumes
• announcements
• food smells
• sudden crowd movement around popular areas

If you are sensitive to noise, light, crowds or busy environments, we recommend:

• bringing noise-reducing headphones or earplugs
• bringing sunglasses, hats or other light supports if useful
• planning regular breaks
• visiting Access Inn when you need a calmer space
• checking the map before moving between areas
• allowing extra time to move through busier parts of the venue
• avoiding peak entry times where possible
• choosing a meeting point with your group
• speaking to AVCon staff or volunteers if you need directions or support

You are welcome to enjoy AVCon at your own pace. You do not need to see everything to have a good day.

Mobility Access

The Adelaide Showground has ramps and lifts to support access across the venue and is generally wheelchair friendly.

For AVCon 2026:

• Key stages, including the Main Stage Presented by JP Light and Sound, have ramp access.
• Staff or volunteers can assist with safe access to stages where required.
• Stage seating includes wheelchair-friendly options.
• Rest areas and seating will be available across the venue where space allows.
• We have emphasised to all external parties to keep walkways and aisles free at all times, as well as plan their spaces on the show floor with accessibility in mind.

IAVCon uses multiple halls and show floor areas, so attendees may need to move between spaces during the day. Some areas may become crowded at peak times. If you use a wheelchair, mobility scooter, walking frame, cane or other mobility aid, we recommend checking the event map before you arrive and allowing extra time to move between activities.

If you have specific questions about mobility access, wheelchair access or using a mobility aid at AVCon, please contact us before the event so we can discuss your needs.

Seating, Queues and Rest Areas

AVCon involves some queuing for popular events, signings, entry points, competitions, activities and food. We understand that standing for long periods or moving through crowded spaces can be difficult for some attendees.

For AVCon 2026, we will provide:

• seating in or near key queuing areas where space allows
• rest areas with seating throughout the venue
• wheelchair-friendly viewing areas at all stages
• staff and volunteers who can help direct attendees to support options

If you are unable to stand in a queue for health, disability or access reasons, please speak to a Team AVCon staff member (blue tshirt) or volunteer (red tshirt) near the queue. Our team will work with you to find a practical option, such as seating while you hold your place or another reasonable way to access the activity.

Priority access is not available in every situation, and some sessions may still be limited by room capacity, safety requirements or guest schedules. We will work with attendees to find safe and reasonable options wherever possible.

Stage Events and Seating

AVCon has stage events, panels, performances, ceremonies, competitions and guest sessions across the weekend. Some stage events may be busy, loud or popular. For events you really want to attend, we recommend arriving early and allowing time to find seating.

Where possible, AVCon will support wheelchair-friendly viewing and accessible seating arrangements. If you need assistance finding a seat or accessing a stage area, please speak to staff or volunteers in that area.

Some events may reach capacity. If a room or area is full, staff may need to close entry for safety reasons.

Medical Needs and First Aid

You are welcome to bring medication, medical equipment, mobility aids and other health-related items you need to manage your health during AVCon 2026.

Please keep sharp items, needles or medical supplies safely stored when not in use.

First aid services will be available onsite throughout the event, staffed by trained medical personnel. The main first aid point will be marked on the AVCon map and with signage in the venue.

If you or someone with you needs medical assistance during AVCon:

• Go to the nearest first aid point.
• Ask a Team AVCon staff member, volunteer or security officer to contact first aid for you.
• If it is urgent, tell the nearest staff member or security officer immediately.

For serious or life-threatening emergencies, standard emergency procedures apply and emergency services may be called.


If you have complex medical needs and are unsure whether the festival environment is suitable, please speak with your health professional and contact us before the event if you need to discuss access or support options.

Medication, Food and Health Supplies

Attendees may bring medication, medical food, disability-related items and health supplies needed for their own care.

If you need to carry specific food due to allergies, diabetes, sensory needs, disability, medical requirements or other health needs, please plan ahead and bring what you require.

Please keep medication and health supplies with you or with a trusted support person. AVCon cannot store personal medication for attendees.

Catering for Different Dietary Requirements

AVCon 2026 will have a range of catering options available at the event.

We work with the venue and vendors to support options for:

• vegetarians
• vegans
• people who require gluten-free options
• people who require dairy-free options

Where possible, these options will be indicated on menus to make it easier to choose food that suits your dietary requirements.

If you have allergies, medical dietary needs or strict food requirements, we recommend planning ahead before the event. Large events can be busy, and food availability may change during the day.

Inclusion at AVCon

AVCon is committed to creating a safer, welcoming and inclusive festival for our community.

We expect all attendees, staff, volunteers, exhibitors, guests, partners and participants to treat others with respect.

Harassment, discrimination, intimidation or unsafe behaviour is not acceptable at AVCon. This includes behaviour based on disability, race, culture, gender, sexuality, religion, age, body type, appearance, cosplay, fandom, neurodiversity or access needs.

If you experience or witness behaviour that makes you feel unsafe, please speak to AVCon staff, volunteers, the Information Desk or venue security.

Team AVCon Inc. is also proud to be registered with the Welcome Here Project, reflecting our commitment to making AVCon a safe, welcoming and inclusive space for LGBTQIA+ communities.

Cosplay, Photos and Personal Space

Cosplay is a big part of AVCon, and many attendees enjoy dressing up, taking photos and celebrating their favourite characters.

Please remember:

• Always ask before taking a photo of someone.
• Respect the answer if someone says no.
• Do not touch costumes, props, mobility aids, wigs, service animals or personal items without permission.
• Do not block walkways for photos.
• Be mindful that some attendees may not want to be approached, photographed or touched.
• Give people space if they appear overwhelmed, busy or uncomfortable.

These expectations apply to all attendees, including children, families, photographers, creators and cosplayers.

Getting Help During The Festival

If you need assistance at any point during AVCon 2026, please speak to:

• a Team AVCon staff member or volunteer, who can be identified by their blue and red AVCon branded t-shirts
• the Information Desk
• venue security if there is an urgent safety issue
• first aid staff for medical support

Our team can help with:

• directions and wayfinding
• accessibility and facilities questions
• locating Access Inn or rest areas
• finding toilets, first aid or information points
• connecting you with security or first aid
• support if you feel unsafe or overwhelmed

If you know you will need specific support on the day, you are welcome to contact us before the event so we can talk through options.

If You Feel Overwhelmed

If you feel overwhelmed at AVCon, you are not doing anything wrong. Big events can be a lot, even when they are fun.

You can:

• move away from the busiest area
• visit Access Inn in the Video Games Hall
• find a rest area
• use headphones or other sensory supports
• step outside if safe and appropriate
• ask a friend, carer or support person to help you reset
• speak to AVCon staff or volunteers if you need directions or support

Lost Children, Separated Groups and Safety

AVCon is a busy event, so we recommend that families and groups plan ahead.

Before arriving, choose a meeting point and make sure everyone in your group knows where it is. For younger children, it can help to write a parent or guardian phone number on a card and keep it with them.

If a child becomes separated from their parent, guardian or carer, please notify AVCon staff, volunteers or venue security as soon as possible.

If a child needs help, they should speak to someone wearing official AVCon identification, venue security, or staff at an information point.

If your group separates, avoid relying only on phone reception or mobile data. Large events can sometimes affect signal or battery life.

Planning Before You Arrive

Before coming to AVCon, we recommend:

• buying or claiming your ticket before the event
• checking which day your ticket is valid for
• saving your ticket QR code
• checking the event map
• reviewing the schedule
• choosing your must-do activities
• planning food, water and rest breaks
• checking travel and parking options
• packing medication, sensory supports and mobility items
• bringing a portable charger if you use your phone for support or communication
• choosing a meeting point with your group

A little planning can make the day much easier, especially for attendees with access needs, families, first-timers and anyone who finds large events tiring.
