AVCon Cosplay Competition
Get Ready to Cheer for the AVCon Cosplay Competition!
Come cheer on the cosplayers bringing big builds, character energy and stage moments to the AVCon Main Stage Presented by JP Light and Sound.
The AVCon Cosplay Competition is one of the biggest cosplay events of the weekend, featuring handmade costumes, detailed props, armour builds, wigs, performance skits and community creativity. Applications for 2026 have now closed, so the line-up is locked in and our competitors are getting ready to take the stage.
The AVCon Cosplay Competition is part craft showcase, part stage show and part celebration of the people who make cosplay special.
Expect detailed costume work from cosplayers of different ages and experience levels, from newer makers through to experienced competitors, each bringing their own style to the stage.
Arrive early if you want a good seat. Cosplay events are popular and seating may fill quickly.
How the AVCon Cosplay Competition Works!
The AVCon Cosplay Competition includes both craftsmanship and performance categories. Some entrants will take part in a short stage walk-on, where they show their costume, character and presentation. Others will perform skits, with solo and group entries bringing comedy, drama, dance, lip-sync, character work or original stage ideas to the competition.
Since 2024, the AVCon Cosplay Competition has included multiple divisions so entrants are supported through skill-appropriate participation and judging.
Competition Divisions
Beginner
The Beginner division is for newer makers building their confidence and skills. On stage, you will see entrants present their costumes through a short walk-on.
Intermediate
The Intermediate division is for cosplayers with more experience and more detailed builds. These entrants are judged on craftsmanship, creativity, presentation and accuracy to their reference image.
Master
The Master division is for experienced cosplayers with strong technical skills and a high level of finish. Expect detailed builds, polished presentation and a higher level of technical judging.
Skit
The Skit division is where cosplay becomes performance. Solo and group entries are judged on theatrics, performance and audience entertainment, rather than cosplay craftsmanship.
Meet The Judges
We are lucky to have an incredible panel of cosplay judges joining us for AVCon 2026, with experience across Beginner, Intermediate and Master-level competition spaces.
Each year, we aim to bring in a mix of returning expertise and fresh perspectives so entrants receive thoughtful feedback from experienced cosplay professionals with different skills, backgrounds and specialities. From sewing and armour to wigs, props, performance, presentation and competition experience, each judge brings something different to the panel and helps make the AVCon Cosplay Competition stronger.
Our cosplay judges will also have spaces at Cosplay Corner across the weekend, so you can stop by, meet them, chat about cosplay, ask questions and learn more about their work when they are available!

Balance Bringer Cosplay
Balance Bringer Cosplay will be judging the AVCon Beginner, Intermediate and Skit competitions.
Balance Bringer is an award-winning Adelaide cosplayer who was crowned Master Division Champion in the AVCon Cosplay Competition last year. Known for detailed work and careful craftsmanship, he also received a Craftsmanship Award at Supanova Comic Con & Gaming in 2024.
For Balance Bringer, cosplay is also a creative home and a way to connect with lifelong friends. He has been involved with Cosplay Club and Cosplay For a Cause, and his Master-winning Revenge of the Sith Anakin is also 501st approved, so you may see him at events with the Southern Dewback Garrison across Adelaide.

Greenthedestroyer
Greenthedestroyer will be judging the AVCon Beginner, Intermediate and Skit competitions.
A long-time cosplayer, Greenthedestroyer has been part of the cosplay scene since 2011 and entered her first competitions that same year. Starting out in a small town with limited resources, she developed a strong foundation in upcycling, improvising and making the most of what was available, before adding foamsmithing to her skill set in 2022.
She is currently the director of Cosplay Club, a community-driven club focused on creativity, skill-sharing and collaboration within Adelaide’s cosplay scene. She has also been the face of AVCon’s mascot Ayvee since 2024, so make sure you say hi if you spot Ayvee around the festival.

Zalariacos
Zalariacos, or Zali for short, will be judging the AVCon Beginner, Intermediate and Skit competitions.
Zali has been an anime fan from a young age and first discovered AVCon in 2009 after hearing it was a place where people dressed up as anime characters. That discovery sparked a long-running love of cosplay and content creation.
After learning sewing basics and pattern work from her mother for her first AVCon costume, Ichigo from Tokyo Mew Mew, Zali continued building her skills through online tutorials and self-directed learning. She has since created a wide range of handmade competition-level cosplays, including Witch Mercy, Lightning Farron and Bayonetta.
Zali loves chatting with fellow fans, sharing cosplay knowledge, and nerding out over favourite games and anime.

Vye
Vye will be judging the AVCon Master Division and the International Cosplay League Australian preliminary round.
Vye is a Melbourne-based cosplayer known for impressive sewing skills, careful detail work and a strong history in both cosplay craftsmanship and performance.
With more than 18 years of cosplay experience, Vye has taken their skills around the world, including France, Spain and the United States. They also have a strong connection to Adelaide cosplay, having represented Adelaide in the Madman National Cosplay Championship in 2015, 2016 and 2017, before winning the competition in 2019.
Before Australia officially joined the International Cosplay League family, Vye was selected through the ICL online wildcard process, becoming the first Australian representative in ICL history. Vye has also helped AVCon bring ICL to Australia in 2026 and will be joining the event as lead ICL judge and AVCon’s international cosplay advisor.

Vamprea
Vamprea will be judging the AVCon Master Division and the International Cosplay League Australian preliminary round.
Vamprea is a professional seamstress with more than 19 years of sewing experience and over 10 years in cosplay.
After first learning to sew in high school and completing a Certificate in Fashion, Vamprea found her way into cosplay through convention costumes and has since earned national and international recognition for craftsmanship and performance. Her achievements include winning a round of Crown Cosplay in Sydney, the Madman National Cosplay Competition, and representing Team Australia at ECG 2024 in France.
Outside of cosplay, Vamprea runs a bespoke costuming business specialising in custom burlesque outfits for performers around the world. She is excited to return to Adelaide as part of Australia’s next major step onto the international cosplay stage.

Miss Twisted
Miss Twisted will be judging the AVCon Master Division and the International Cosplay League Australian preliminary round.
Miss Twisted has been cosplaying for more than 10 years, starting as a teenager after receiving a simple sewing machine from her mum.
Completely self-taught, Miss Twisted has learned from workshops, online tutorials, seamstresses, puppeteers and even a boat builder. During the pandemic lockdowns, she began sharing her process and builds online, growing a dedicated audience through skits, tutorials, large-scale builds, huge wings and puppetry.
Miss Twisted has competed and judged across Australia, with appearances at events including TGX, DreamHack, Mack PopCon and Pixel Expo. She is excited to debut a new costume at AVCon and be part of Australia’s first International Cosplay League preliminary round.
