Across the Multiverse, mighty Planeswalkers have heard the call. Now, the Elder Dragons stir once more.
AVCon, in partnership with Good Games Adelaide, invites you to Elder Dragon Summit, a weekend-long Magic: The Gathering Commander festival inside the AVCon 2026 Tabletop Gaming Hall.
This is your chance to gather your pod, forge alliances, make very questionable table deals, betray someone at exactly the wrong moment, and earn prize tickets across a full weekend of multiplayer Magic.
Elder Dragon Summit is included with your AVCon ticket. No separate Elder Dragon Summit ticket is required unless you are entering a paid side event, such as a draft.

Please note: Elder Dragon Summit does not run during AVCon After Dark.
What is Elder Dragon Summit?
Elder Dragon Summit is AVCon’s dedicated celebration of Magic: The Gathering, focused on the fan-favourite Commander format.
Across the weekend, players can join casual Commander pods, take part in Magic events, learn how to play, meet other players, and earn tickets to redeem at the Good Games Prize Wall.
It is built for Commander players who want a full weekend of games, prizes, table politics, wild board states and community play. New players are also welcome. If you are curious about Magic or have wanted to try Commander but did not know where to start, this is a good place to learn.
What is Commander?
Commander is a casual multiplayer format of Magic: The Gathering.
Each player chooses a legendary creature to lead their deck as their commander. Your deck is built around that commander’s colour identity, abilities and play style.
Commander decks use 100 cards, and most cards can only appear once, except for basic lands. Games are usually played in pods of four players, which means there is plenty of strategy, table talk, alliances, surprise plays and dramatic turns.
How to Join In
To take part in Elder Dragon Summit, bring your AVCon ticket and register for Magic events on the day using the MTG Companion App.
Volunteers and Good Games Adelaide staff will be available to help players get set up, join games and find the right place to start.
If you are already a Magic player, bring your own Commander deck and jump into casual pods across the weekend.
If you are new, you can join a learn-to-play session, ask questions, and get help understanding the basics before sitting down for a game.
New to Magic or the Commander Format?
You are welcome here. Learn-to-play sessions will run across the weekend for attendees who are new to Magic. These sessions are designed to help you understand the basics, learn how turns work, and get comfortable before joining a game.
You do not need to know every rule before you start. Magic is easiest to learn by playing, and Commander is a great format for meeting people while you learn.
If you want to keep playing after your first session, on-site vendors may have pre-constructed Commander decks available to purchase.
Already a Magic Veteran?
Bring your favourite Commander deck and get ready for a weekend of pods, prize tickets and table politics.
Elder Dragon Summit is designed for players who want to sit down, meet new opponents, play multiple games and enjoy a community-focused Magic experience inside AVCon.

Prizes and Tickets
Players can earn prize tickets across the weekend by joining Magic: The Gathering games, activities and purchases during Elder Dragon Summit.
Tickets can be redeemed at the Good Games Prize Wall for a range of Magic: The Gathering prizes, including Secret Lairs drops, Collector boosters, Play booster packs, promo cards, Magic merch, AVCon x GGAdelaide playmats, deck boxes and folders!
How to Earn Tickets
Buy sealed Magic product
Earn 1 prize ticket for every $20 spent on sealed Magic product from the Good Games Adelaide booth.
Join Learn to Play
New to Magic or need a refresher? Join a Learn to Play session and earn 1 prize ticket while you learn the basics in a welcoming environment.
Play Chaos Sealed
Join a Chaos Sealed event and earn 2 prize tickets.
Play Commander
Settle in for casual Commander and earn tickets while you play. Players can earn 3 prize tickets for every hour spent playing Commander.
Watch for Bonus Activities
There may be extra ways to play, participate and earn tickets across the weekend, so keep an eye on announcements, signage and instructions from the Elder Dragon Summit team.
