The AVCon 2026 Tabletop Gaming Hall brings board games, trading card games, roleplaying games, learn-to-play sessions and the Warhammer 40K Grand Tournament together in one place. You can drop in for something casual, join a one-shot, learn a new card game, borrow a board game, or watch players battle it out across a full weekend of Warhammer.
New players are welcome. Experienced players are welcome. Curious first-timers who have no idea where to start are also welcome.

Warhammer 40K Grand Tournament Supported by 9IQ Events and Good Games Modbury
For the first time at AVCon, 9IQ Events and Good Games Modbury are bringing a full-scale Warhammer 40K Grand Tournament to the Tabletop Gaming Hall.
This is a 1v1, five-round, 2000-point 11th Edition tournament running across Saturday and Sunday. It is built for competitive Warhammer players, while still keeping room for anyone who wants to roll dice, move their little plastic figurines and have a good weekend of games.
Tournament entry is pre-registration only. Your tournament ticket includes access to AVCon for the full weekend, excluding AVCon After Dark. Attendees who are not competing are welcome to stop by the Tabletop Gaming Hall and watch the tournament across the weekend.
Elder Dragon Summit Supported by Good Games Adelaide
Calling all Commander players. Elder Dragon Summit, in partnership with Good Games Adelaide, is AVCon’s dedicated weekend-long celebration of multiplayer Magic: The Gathering, built for big plays, wild table politics and plenty of “wait, you can do what?” moments.
Across the weekend, players can sit down for casual Commander games, meet other Magic fans, find new tables and enjoy a full community-focused Magic experience inside AVCon included all with their ticket! Bring your favourite deck, try something spicy, make alliances that will absolutely not last, and enjoy the kind of games where the real win is surviving long enough to untap.

Learn to Play Trading Card Games Supported by Good Games Adelaide
Curious about trading card games but not sure where to start?
Good Games Adelaide will be running learn-to-play sessions for a wide range of trading card games, with friendly hosts helping attendees learn the basics. Beginner decks will be available, so you can sit down, try a game, and discover a new favourite without needing to bring your own cards.
It is a great way to try popular and emerging TCGs in a low-pressure setting, especially if you have always wanted to learn but felt intimidated by the rules, cards or community.
TCGs running learn-to-play sessions include One Piece Card Game, Pokémon Trading Card Game, Magic: The Gathering, Shadowverse: Evolve, hololive OFFICIAL CARD GAME, Weiß Schwarz, Star Wars: Unlimited, Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game, Cardfight!! Vanguard, Sorcery: Contested Realm, Riftbound: League of Legends TCG, and Palworld OFFICIAL CARD GAME.
Roleplaying Games
Players, roll for initiative. Join us at the Roleplaying Realm where we will be hosting one-shot roleplaying games across the weekend. These are short, self-contained adventures where you can sit down, play a character, roll dice and tell a story with the group.
Everything you need to play will be provided, including character sheets and dice. You do not need to bring a rulebook, know the system or have a regular gaming group. No full table needed. Solo players are very welcome.
Roleplaying sessions can be signed up for on the day, but spots are limited. Head to the Tabletop Gaming registration desk first thing in the morning to book your session, then come back at your session time ready to play.

Indie Tabletop Showcase
The AVCon Indie Tabletop Showcase is your chance to be among the first to play original tabletop games created right here in Australia!
Located inside the Tabletop Gaming Hall, the Indie Tabletop Showcase brings together independent designers sharing their own board games, wargames, trading card games, roleplaying games and more.
Pull up a chair, roll some dice and try something brand new. You might play a polished release ready to take home, an early prototype looking for its first players, or something still being shaped through feedback from the community.
Your feedback matters too. The creators are right there at the table, ready to watch people play, answer questions and hear what you think.

Board Game Library and Demos Supported by asmodee Australia
Visit the AVCon Board Game Library supported by asmodee Australia and browse a collection of board games you can borrow and play during the event.
Pick something familiar, try something completely new, or ask for a recommendation if you are not sure where to begin. Board game demos will also run across the weekend, giving attendees a chance to learn modern classics, party games, strategy games and easy-to-pick-up favourites.
It is a relaxed way to take a break, sit down with friends, meet new people and find your next favourite game.
Riichi Mahjong with SA Riichi Mahjong
Learn, watch or play Riichi Mahjong with SA Riichi Mahjong! Making a return from 2024 and 2025, SA Riichi Mahjong will be joining the Tabletop Gaming Hall to introduce attendees to Riichi Mahjong, a Japanese style of mahjong known for its strategy, tense decision-making and satisfying big-hand moments.
New players are welcome, so do not worry if you have never played before. SA Riichi Mahjong will be there to help explain the basics, answer questions and guide people through the game.
Experienced players can also stop by, meet the local community and get some games in across the weekend.
