AVCon is made by the community, for the community. Each year, we welcome artists, performers, creators, exhibitors, panelists, volunteers and more to help make the Festival special. Whether you want to showcase your work, run an activity, or join the team, there are plenty of ways to get involved!

Press and Media – Open
Media coverage is an important part of how AVCon reaches audiences beyond the Festival floor. AVCon invites recognised media organisations to apply for Media Badges for editorial, broadcast, photography, videography, and other professional coverage of AVCon 2026. Applications are assessed on a case-by-case basis, with approval determined by relevance to AVCon, demonstrated quality of previous work, professional standing, and suitability for the event.

Community Panels & Workshops
Panels and workshops are an important part of AVCon’s programming. Community members and presenters are invited to submit sessions that inform, entertain, and engage attendees across the Festival weekend. From fan discussions and cosplay tutorials to creative workshops and niche interest topics, these sessions help fill out the program and bring a wider range of voices and experiences to AVCon.

Itasha Showcase
AVCon’s Itasha Showcase is where fandom meets car culture. This dedicated display area gives owners the chance to showcase their anime, manga, video game, and Japanese pop culture themed vehicles across the Festival weekend, letting attendees admire the creativity, detail, and personality behind each build.

AVCon is powered by volunteers from top to bottom, and on-the-day helpers play a huge role in bringing the AVCon Festival weekend to life. Artist Alley
Artist Alley at AVCon is a dedicated space for artists to showcase and sell their creative work. It’s a vibrant marketplace filled with original art, crafts, and fandom-inspired creations such as prints, stickers, keychains, and more. Attendees can connect directly with local and interstate artists, commission unique pieces, and support independent creators.

Community groups are at the heart of fandom at AVCon. Starfall Market is AVCon’s curated exhibitor area, bringing products, services and interactive experiences to attendees From officially licensed anime and gaming merchandise to collectibles, fashion, and creative activations, Starfall Market connects businesses with thousands of engaged attendees across the weekend.
AVCon maintains clear standards around authenticity, product quality and licensing to ensure a safe, relevant and high-quality marketplace experience. Businesses of all sizes are welcome to apply, provided their products align with AVCon’s themes and Exhibitor Terms and Policies.

Indie Game Developers
The AVCon Indie Games Room (IGR) was one of the first events in Australia to showcase locally developed game projects. For over 15 years, it has been South Australia’s highest exposure, open and supportive developer space to promote games, gather feedback, and make sales.
If you’re new to AVCon and even if you have attended the Indie Games Room before… here are some reasons you should apply for the most exciting showcase of indie game development in the country!
☆ It’s free! Unlike many other events, there is no cost on your team to bring your game to AVCon.
☆ It’s huge! As the biggest video game event in South Australia, AVCon has thousands of folks coming through the doors who love exploring the latest indie games.
☆ It’s connected! Apart from fostering a great community of indie game devs, AVCon also features content creators, artists, cosplayers, writers and performers, and many other creatives, which allows for great cross-pollination and promotional opportunities.
☆ In addition, we have some exciting activations planned including a Steam event, digital showcase, awards, sticker rally, playtesting area and content creator collaborations.
The Indie Games Room at AVCon has always prided itself on diversity and inclusivity. So no matter what type of game you have, what stage of development it is at, how large or small your team is or what its composition or where you are located (yes we love welcoming interstate colleagues!), you are welcome to bring your game to AVCon and share the joy of play with like-minded folks.

Indie Tabletop Showcase
AVCon’s Indie Tabletop Showcase is where Australian creators can put their original tabletop games in front of the AVCon community. Located within AVCon’s Tabletop area, this dedicated space gives indie developers the chance to showcase their game, gather feedback, build an audience, and make sales across the Festival weekend.

AVCon’s own Inktaku Alley is the ultimate destination for anime and pop culture tattoo fans! This dedicated space brings together an incredible collective of talented tattoo artists from Adelaide and beyond, ready to showcase their work and maybe even give you your next piece of ink.

AVCon’s Midnight Lane is the 18+ Artist Alley experience of AVCon After Dark. Running on Saturday night only, this dedicated space is for artists and approved small businesses with primarily adult-oriented catalogues, offering a place to trade work created specifically for an 18+ audience.

Cost: Artist table options range from $40 to $120 incl. GST. After Dark Small Business Tables are $200 incl. GST.

Staff
AVCon is built by a dedicated team of year-round volunteer staff who help plan the Festival and support our mini events throughout the year. If you love anime, gaming, pop culture or community events and want to help make cool things happen behind the scenes, this is the perfect way to get involved.
These roles are more involved than on-the-day volunteering and give you real experience in event planning, project work and teamwork, all in a friendly and supportive environment.
