Team AVCon is a 100% volunteer, not-for-profit organisation that runs several anime and gaming-themed events throughout the year, including the AVCon Anime and Gaming Festival. We have a passion for all things nerdy and a desire to put on quality entertainment and events for the public of South Australia. All members and staff of Team AVCon Incorporated are volunteers and perform roles without any monetary compensation. This is not a paid position. This is a position done on a volunteer basis.
The AVCon Events Team is seeking a Cosplay Officer to assist the team in running cosplay-based activities and events for the 2025 AVCon Anime and Gaming Festival!
Duties
- Assist the Community and Creative Event Coordinator in the planning, administration, and execution of needs regarding the cosplay area and the relevant structures and scheduling within this area.
- Assist the Community and Creative Event Coordinator in reviewing the terms and conditions of the competition, ensuring the categories and judging is confirmed for 2025.
- Manage the entries of the cosplay competition as well as correspondence with contestants to ensure they receive the required information regarding their entry, judging and scheduling in a timely manner.
- Manage the scheduling of the competition judging before the competition stage show.
- Manage any slideshows, as well as the contestant order for the stage show – communicating with the event coordinator and tech team where required.
- Assist the team in sourcing qualified judges for the competition.
- Manage correspondence with the judges to ensure that they are aware of their duties and schedules.
- Manage the judging process and paperwork during the event.
- Assist the Community and Creative Event Coordinator as required during the event when it is relevant to Cosplay.
Joining Team AVCon will provide staff with invaluable real-world work experience in multiple fields and provide materials and references to be used in future work and study applications. Most work will be expected to be done with your own equipment and resources and within your own hours.
