For Families

AVCon is a fantastic place to bring the whole family along! The event is an all-inclusive exciting environment with entertainment for both you and your children. Team AVCon strives to provide you with all the information you need to help make the day as entertaining and exciting as possible. The Festival is rated PG for Parental guidance; however, some rooms and areas will contain material of a higher rating. AVCon will clearly mark these areas for your guidance, and proof of age is required.

Entry for Families

Free Entry for Children 5 and Under

Entry for children aged 5 and under is free, with 1 child permitted per standard session or weekend pass. Standard session and weekend pass prices apply for all ages 5 and above.

Family Pass

Families can purchase a Family Pass, including weekend pass entry to either x2 Adults and x2 Children (14 and under) or x1 Adult and x3 Children (14 and under). This pass includes access to all sessions except Quiz Night and AVCon After Dark 18+. Quiz Night tickets can be purchased in addition to $10 per person. However, minors must be accompanied by adults at all time during Quiz Night.

Children are to be supervised at all times. AVCon makes every attempt to create a safe and secure environment, and this will be ensured if everyone works together to prioritise this.

Kids & Family Area

Younger children will be safe from more mature games in this area of the festival. With family-friendly video games and activities, there’s no better place at our event for your children to have an AVCon experience that’s tailored to suit their needs.

Sit back and let your kids choose from a large range of games, from board games to Super Mario Bros or participate in colouring and art and craft activities with our dedicated staff and volunteers. All staff and volunteers are required to pass police checks. You can have a well-deserved break, away from the hustle and bustle of the main festival rooms. Please note that children should not be left in the Kids & Family Area without a parent or guardian present.

MA15+ Ratings

MA15+ is a legally restricted classification. Attendees must prove their age with valid identification as 15 or over to participate in MA15+ rated gaming tournaments or enter MA15+ areas or screenings of the convention. Participants under 15 years of age are permitted only when their parent or guardian accompanies them. The “guardian” must be an adult exercising “parental control’ over a person under 15 years of age. The guardian must be 18 years or older. An older sibling or friend would not generally satisfy this requirement, whereas a grandparent, aunt or uncle may. This is a legal requirement under Australian classification law and is not negotiable.
