Our Community

AVCon started in 2002 with passionate nerds who wanted to unite the community and celebrate anime and video games. In 2023, the next generation of passionate nerds are behind AVCon, the same people who have attended it in its 21 years of running. Community is the pillar of our organisation, so this year, we’re trying to find new ways to connect with fandom and friends. Check out how you can engage in the AVCon community in between events!

Over the past 2 years, more than anything, the community has been more important than ever. That’s when the idea for AVConnect came up. We wanted to show our supporters how important they are to AVCon. So we created a membership that AVCon fans could join, get fantastic discounts and connect with each other.

Throwing back to the original name of AVCon, AVConnect is our exclusive Patreon with discounts from our sponsors, access to behind-the-scenes of AVCon 2023 and our member-only Discord! While we’re working hard behind the scenes for the rest of 2022 and incoming 2023 – we want to offer you perks through this membership. For more information, check out our Patreon below or check out our Frequently Asked Questions web page!

Join Our Facebook Group, the AVCon Social Club

The fun doesn’t have to end after the events are over with the AVCon Social Club. The AVCon Social Club is a Facebook group that allows everyone to connect and engage with the community throughout the year. The group is moderated and family-friendly for all ages, but ensure you read through the rules to ensure the group remains a safe and friendly environment.

Artist Spotlight: Nadine Abrahams 📚 🔮Nadine loves storytelling, reading, fantasy, archery, and Role-playing games. Her first poem was published in high school. The characters in her Stars Fallen Series haunted her, leading her to write at a young age. In 2004, she published her novel Primal Heartbeat but lacked confidence to market it. With support from her loved ones, she revisited the book, sought an editor, and got back on track. Miblart brought her envisioned characters to life on the cover.Inspired by her child's struggles with writing, she created the inclusive role-playing game Muintir. It embraces acceptance, disregarding appearance and identity, making it accessible and affordable with standard dice. The simplified mechanics are friendly to those with learning disabilities. In Muintir's world, everyone is important, and hidden talents of those with disabilities are admired. She also authored the children's magical adventure Ad' Astra, where readers explore a mysterious store and its enchanting goods. She collaborated with an artist from Xlibris, who visualized her descriptions.Be sure to visit Nadine and grab a book at AVCon 2023!
